i really like this song but the fact that she released it so soon after the shroud surrounding the chris brown-Rihanna drama has to have some significance doesnt it?
Anyway this song is pretty straight forward really, The first few lines
"I was pickin' up your clothes in the closet (closet)
I was 'bout to throw your jeans in the washer (washer)
Til I saw a piece of paper sayin' "Toshia" (Toshia)
I gotta say I found this a bit shockin'
And some reciepts here that say you went shoppin'
You bought some Nike shoes
But why you buyin stockings?"
Just stating the situation, in the ever increasingly popular style of lyric writing which is to write the song directly towards the person. Girl was cleaning up and found a number - typical conflict
"Boy how could you lie to me?
I thought you would die for me
I'm not accepting another apology."
This bit shows a bit about the singer, it shows shes hurt and is re-assesing the problem but also that its not the first time, the last line says its happened all too often.
aside from the first verse the chorus is my favorite bit, the beginning shows resolution, that the singer is sure of what shes going to do (end it and move on)
but then it gets mixed up,
"I'm fightin' with myself
I can't hurt you even though you hurt me"
Which is showing us indecision, though she seemed so resolute to begin with its crumbling and shes sort of re-assesing. but the last line seems to be her pummping herslef up again, fighting with the doubt and appearing more resolute than she really is.
Then theres the second verse which is like her backing herself up, giving her and the audience (not to mention the man) a second scenario that has lead her to this decision.
then of course there is the guys point of veiw (which you dont always have in the songs) and the man is saying yes i had numbers in my phone --im sorry - but were to strong for you to listen to your girlfriends over me, and then hes pointing out that it all ends up on the newspapers and tv so wouldnt she have heard about something before this?
and yeaa...
i got a bit lazy...and distracted.
but i love this song
