all ya'll are wrong about the meaning.
in an interview with Daytrotter.com (an amazing music blog)
Kevin Barnes, the lead singer, said this about Suffer for Fashion:
"This is about how most of us will react when the apocalypse is upon us running through the streets full of terror, but also checking our compact mirrors to make sure our lipstick isn't smeared and our hair is right."
He also said that the whole album was written through the perspective of a drag queen.
Here's another quote from the review:
"Barnes validates the androgyny when he explains that he's lately been writing music - much of which will appear on Hissing Fauna: Are You the Destroyer? -- the band's January release on Polyvinyl Records - as a black she-male named Georgie Fruit."
Hope that helps!
amazing band, really interesting live shows.
