Okay, this example is going to sound very silly, but it's a prime one of how I connect this song to my life, and just how much I interweave music into it (and how I insane I am!!!!!!). I recently got a cute little stuffed bird as an Easter gift, and the following day after, I wanted to bring it along to school with me. My mom laughed at the idea and forbade me to. Her argument for such was because "18 year old guys don't do such things". I backed up my side of the argument by stating that there were a couple of girls in my choir who were playing around with a finger puppet in a fashion very similar on which I planned to do with the stuffed bird. Her response was "Well they're girls."
I got pissed afterward. Not only was the remark SEXIST (sexism is a pet peeve of mine), but also a hampering of who I truly am. And thus, this song comes in. Know what I'm saying? FUCK SEXISM, FUCK WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS, AND DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS RIGHT IN YOUR HEART.
