It's more about how people, both inside and outside the church, sometimes end up treating the Christian faith as if it is simply a set of religious rules to be obeyed. This, as Extol like to remind us in this and many of their other songs, is not really the truth of Christianity at all. The truth of Christianity is about a loving God who willingly gives himself as an act of grace to set us free from our inability to follow such rules.
Grace is a wonderful concept - I'm glad Extol like it as much as I do.
