This song has a pretty clear meaning especially in the context of other Sepultura songs such as 'Inner Self' and 'Attitude' as an affirmation of individuality. This concept is also perhaps touched on in the video 'Slave new world' in which people are having their heads shaved dressed in the same clothing lined up given a bar code tattoo and basically stripped of their individuality. The lyrics in this song are basic and repetitive but I believe they get the point across, this track also features at the climax of the film 'The Big Empty' which is one of my favorite films.

My main memory of this tune is when I was about 15 (2000) first getting into real metal (not korn and marylin manson) I found the epic guitar drone notes really struck a chord with me and the lyrics meant alot as at the time as metal was not as popular as it is now and the people I knew into it were few and far between. I felt a special sense of individuality that this special thing (metal) defined me somewhat and gave me that individuality. Nowadays every bastard is into metal and the whole genre has been fucked with beyond recognition.

Still love metal tho
