well, coming from the perspective of a songwriter, i can say this is definitely a well-written piece. It's full of insightful metaphors and moving allusions to the real world. in truth, most of the major lines are huge clues to what the song is about.

i believe it refers to the feeling of being locked into the industry and feeling like it's home at the same time. like being a prisoner in your own house. you belong there, but it also feels invaded and uncomfortable, and sometimes you want to step out, but you can't. it's your whole life.
