I really hope this song is against organized religion. It's how I feel about it. My parents fixed my brain when I was young before I knew the difference by forcing me to go to church and be told how to live my life by a simple man (pastor) who is no closer to being Jesus Christ than I am. But of course I grew up and grew a mind of my own.
@pizza
there's no reason they can't be against organized religion and still believe in the Christian God.
Organized religion, more often than not, warps Gods word or fixes your brain to believe certain things before you know the difference.

though, HAHBASSIST, i'm glad you listen to As Cities Burn. the lessons they teach about religion are essential. most people see God in black and white, either you believe in him and therefore belong to a group of pre-decided beliefs and rituals or you don't believe there is any possibility for...

This is just not the case, and it's something too many simple minded people overlook when they start "making decisions for themselves." this error in judgment just shows how much help they really do need.
Hmmmmm. If this is what the song is about I don't know how excited I am about it.
I see why one would be anti-organized religion, and even anti-church. I was there once.
But Jesus says that "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). The church is there to help us worship in truth, otherwise we as believers would be in a dysfunctional state of disunity. Worshiping alone to God is extremely important, but so is communal worship.
Jesus loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). The church is Jesus' bride, and if you can't love His...

Yes, the fact that people follow what they hear about God blindly and the over-structured workings that the church tends to have are not good at all... this is what Jesus preached about time and time again (Matthew 23). I guess you could say As Cities Burn is just putting these ideas to music, with their own spin on it.
But don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Love Jesus, love His children, love His earthen vessel (the church).
Yeah.. Being 'anti-church' is not beneficial at all.. cause that would be in hatred. And.. that's a no-no. haha. but it's when churches get too structured and ritualistic.. and just not moving in any way, that's when things get bad for a church... when it gets too much like an organization...
