i'll give it a shot but my explanations pretty weak.

falling is an expression used when you start to love someone. but instead of it being a good feeling it only hurt him. throwing rocks at broken windows-you can't break what's already broken. (his heart). picking locks with footprints from the snow-footprints in the snow are impressions that melt when the sun comes out, they don't last. maybe he's trying to get to her and he feels like he never will because it always changes. another way to look at it is that he went to her house and found footprints in the snow, as if someone had just been there. and shes locked him out and hes trying to get in while yelling at her for the things shes done. this theory makes more sense with the phrase "look what you've done you've punched a hole in the sun"
she leaves him for someone new. punched a hole in the sun refers to the darkness a person feels in depression.
