I think it's about two people being in a "model" relationship, sort of like the cliche "it" couple that everyone looks up to and doesn't expect anything abnormal from.
"What should we do now that we're caught in the middle of the spotlight?"
So, instead of being what everyone else expects them to be, they decide to run away from their "spotlight". Now instead of being what everyone else expects, and living life the way they're used to... they decide to try something new and love each other the way they want to. In other words, become two rebels. Rebeling from what everyone else expects.

So the song is asking whether they trust them enough to throw it all away, and live live on their own for a change. :)
