They thank god in the booklet for OHPS, and with the atheistic themes in TAOM, I think they're just slighting at how god is sometimes there for you, and sometimes not, depending on what you believe during those sometimes. You can't ever truly be sure of his existence, but you can never know that he doesn't exist either. I think the "What you see and what you believe are never gonna be the same" line from somewhere in TAOM, i forget where, could find some help in understanding here.
