This song (mostly the "Diamonds in the River" part) is clearly about war, I think. The "diamonds in the river" line reminds me of the movie Blood Diamond, and the diamond trade going on in Africa. "Oil in the dust" reminds me of the oil fields in the Middle East. Both these regions of the world ravaged with war of some kind. Although, it sounds as if they're talking about an invasion (like the occupation of Iraq for example). Makes you think...
