Yeah I think you're right. It's about somebody who's changed for whatever reason, and they are acting like somebody they never though they would be. This person can see how they are behaving and although they want to, cannot stop it, and become themselves again.
It's really quite sad. And it's not a good feeling.
But whoever wrote this did a really good job of saying how they feel. They really captured the feeling of helplessness.
