here's what i think:

"Today is the day,the day of Salvation" Jesse is a very religious Christian, so maybe it means he's ready for Christ to come

"I will strive for the truth" I think it means that Jesse will continue to be Christian and not listen to non-believers.

"I will strive to find rebirth today" He will try to accept Jesus into his heart
