I guess this is obviously about her father who passed away during the recording of Safe Trip Home.
The song deals with the fact she would love to have one day with her father, but simply can't as he's stuck in his hospital bed.
This is, in my opinion, a very cute yet heartbreaking. I don't know which illness had her father but it seems as if he was clearly inconscious and Dido had to take decisions ("I wouldn't guess for you" ; "You'd tell me what to say/to do").
It definitely should have made it on the album. One of her best song.
