I'd like to dispute the last line in the second verse. I'm pretty sure he says "I ran away" instead of "I'll run away."
Personally I think this song is about being in a relationship and not knowing where to go. You know you need that person, and could never seen yourself without them yet you want to run away to someone else. Do you take that chance or just stay with the one you're with now? I can relate to this song so much because I'm in the same situation now.
Also, this song could apply to a religious standpoint. You know you need God, yet you still sin and do things you shouldn't but its hard to fight temptation.
