I find it insulting that nobody has commented on this song. It's one of my favorites.
It's so heartachingly wonderful in so many ways I can't even begin to describe.
First of all there's the amazingly advanced and poetic meter/rhyming pattern.
Second, there's the rhymes, the poetry, the lyrics themselves.
Third- Warren's vocal delivery is remarkable, and a very tender side of him is expressed.
I would love to hear how this song would sound by others, too.
Neil Young, maybe, or Bob Dylan. It's just a classic. Surprising there aren't a billion
cover-versions of it circulating around.
well i agree with you on that one. however, there are jackson browne and linda ronstadt covers of it, which are almost expected. they were some of the few to help him get known...to see his genius early. then again, it seems that a lack of public acknowledgment of zevon is expected, although a mystery.
