-I take this whole song about a "lost love". It seems to me that Tuomas is trying to say when he wrote this that he was very in love with someone. The "oceans away from the wakeful day" means they were far off from reality and when the love ended he “awoke“ and was very hurt. I think this song begins at the beginning or middle of the relationship.

"My love in the dark heart of the night" means that their love is lost, and he feels like he has lost everything and needs someone to help support him from falling behind. “The one behind will lead me”.
