It sounds like a Christian struggling in this world, he's trying to hard to stay away from temptations and sin. It also sounds a lot like he pretends around his wordly friends, he pretends he is something he not... going along with their ideas and jokes although he hates it "I'm sick of nodding my head at things I can't stand." Then towards the end after he expresses his anger/pain and fear of not making it out alive, he calls out to the Lord, stating that he needs him to make it through this.
