I disagree. We may not translate it exactly the way he means it, he has the best idea what it's about. We read it the way we see it, which I believe to be part of the point. We put our own emotional baggage and experiences into what he already has laid out. Like all art, his lyrics are open to translation and have a slightly different meaning for each person that gets pulled into it. There is no right or wrong way to look at it, merely a different way.
