So the meaning of this is pretty clear, but I think it's also important to point out that Glenn Frey said he mostly wrote this for his kids. He also said in an interview to listen to it thinking of the words coming from a dying man. Even though it says "no sad goodbyes" in the song, this is an extremely good, but extremely sad song for me.
