Incredible song. Love Blackalicious, so friggin talented. don't know a lot of personal stuff about the band (such as religious beliefs) but know that they are a positive-tip rap group which falls in line with this song whether it be about finding God or just being spiritual within yourself it speaks to someone about enlightning themselves and uplifting them. I think the song (like most good songs) could speak to a varied situations such as someone who wants something but isn't doing much about getting it. Or someone who is drowning in problems and can't seem to get out of it. Or someone who is looking to change their charachter or motivations, perhaps as a result of substance abuse.
It's a song that is a call to action to better oneself and/or their situation. The lyrics are incredible and the song itself is so good. Love the chorus: "We're climbin' over Beneath the sea March on Time is almost gone It's all in me - No maybe" to climb over from beneath the sea is just a metaphor for trying to get to the surface, being drowned.
