I interpret the song as being about families with low education who have to work a lot and don't have time for their kids and their education. I see it as a call to children born in those circumstances to find and develop their talents, even if they haven't been brought up to be educated and don't have family around. I absolutely love this song when I see it this way. I feel like the interp is good and makes sense, but I can never really know what Company of Thieves means in a lot of their songs. Anyway, hope this is a new/good perspective.
