I think this song has a political undertone to it. Sort of how a country (US, UK, etc) which once was strong has now just decreased into a former shell of itself somewhere along the line, and its too late to really go back and improve things. Its gotten to the point where the people are desensitized by TV and they don't care or don't know what's going on, and corporations have the government in a choke hold, that kind of thing. The line "And its time to desecrate" could be a potential call for the people to rebel and change things themselves. "And we demolished too much / And yeah we really fucked it up" could mean possibly the destruction of wilderness and nature in favor of more suburbs or commercial buildings, or it could easily mean going to war and severely messing up. (And with this being a B-Side on the Black Holes and Revelations album, the theme would fit)
