Counting Down The Days Lyrics

Seems to me that this song is about the state of human nature and our "will to overcome" each other. One man is always trying to one up his neighbor and we're stuck in a world where everyone looks out for themselves. Such a mindset has caused countless wars in the past, but yet we still haven't learned our lesson. He says we are "doomed to repeat our past" because human nature hasn't changed. There is still a certain bloodlust in the hearts of men. I believe this particular stanza:

"A search for the solution as we stood in line. Honored our oppressors. Paid our fines and all became clear as the ferocity inside began. Hear the drums of war resound across the land announcing the fate to shed blood upon the earth. It is ours. Doomed to repeat our history. There is more than one path to how things could be. No time to question how and the why. We simply come together or die."

is a historical example of a humans bloodlust. The Holocaust. I say the Holocaust because of the "honored our oppressors" line, which seems like the hero worship that many people had for Hitler, which greatly aided his success. The overall message is that "there is no right side of war," and no matter how you try to twist it, there is no justification for killing "our brothers."
