First and foremost AMAZING!!!!!....Clearly Bono is speaking to his Mother in this song.

"Only love, only love can leave such a mark" He is speaking of the incredible love between a Mother and her child "But only love, only love can heal such a scar" Here he is saying that the only thing that can heal the scar that he has from the death of his mother is the love he still feels for and from her.

"I give you back my voice" Bono is telling his Mom that when he sings he sings for her

"Justified till we die, you and I will magnify The Magnificent" "Till we die" means that although she is dead she still lives within and through him.

"Magnify The Magnificent"...Magnify the enjoyment of the MAGNIFICENT thing she gave Bono(her son) LIFE!!!!!

You seem to be on the right track with your lyrical predictions, but when he says "born to be with you", this makes me think it may not be is mother!

i dont think its about his mother but his father, i say this because bono's dad bob was a tenor with an amazing singing abiltiy and bono is sayin that the love that he had for his father made him (bono) want to sing to make his father proud by following in his footsteps and since he was born and bono inherited his fathers voice he always wanted to sing for his dad, he'd "sing whatever song, you (bob) wanted me(bono) to" bono says, "I'll giv u back my voice to lift u up" this must mean that because...
