"The song was born from a riff, to which the chorus came easily. For some reason already in the beginning the word “Tuonelaan” [“to the underworld”, Tuonela is a name of the underworld in Finnish mythology] was in my mind, and the lyrics developed from that. I had not written lyrics in the form of a story before and that seemed to fit to the subject which started slowly taking shape. A man is assassinated and after selling his soul, he returns to take revenge on everyone, even upon the innocent, even his closest ones. Somehow that thought is creepy and tragic at the same time.
