I wrote a huge comment, but then, mindless as I am, I accidentally hit clear instead of add comment. Now I will give you a very shortened version of the comment. I think it's about being in a relationship, could be romantic or friendship, that is dying, because you are very busy. You realize you haven't been doing much to maintain the relationship, and you don't want to lose it, but on the other hand, in order to maintain the relationship you will have to sacrifice something you value very much (possibly a career in music?). You feel sorry for not having stayed in touch, and also find yourself unable to communicate your thoughts/feelings to the other person ("I'm sorry I've not made the space to write, the words never match up the thoughts on my mind" I know exactly how that feels haha). You don't want to leave the relationship, but things are changing, which causes the relationship to change too. In the end you have to decide if it's worth it to sacrifice the thing(s) you value for the relationship (change this for you) or that you sacrifice the relationship for what you want (change it for me). These are just part of my thoughts on the song.. I could be wrong.

Corrections in the lyrics: the ed after work is missing (so it should be i still think it worked) and the last line should be change it for me, instead of change this for me.
