I think its about a relationship.

The house being their relationship which is fitting because a house is built up and worked on as is a relationship.

His heart is the frozen creek. The reason the house is on a frozen creek is because he still cares about her or the house/relationship and won't let go.

Its built on a burial ground implies either an ended relatonship or bad past.

He promised he would do anything to save the home. Their love or relationship.

He's closing his eyes to her treating him bad or to what she's done, hoping it'll get turned around for the better for them.

He'd love to take her there is where it gets ironic because she has already been a part of it just not as much so as he.

I agree with this, sort of. Here is my deciphering of the song:

A guy fell in love but he never started a relationship with a girl. The thing that never felt right was probably his emotions sending him mixed signals. The house being built on a burial ground was the relationship never built. The frozen creek is the love he had for her that will never die. He says "I would love to take you there" so he can show her the way he felt and see if she feels the same. The reason "it wasn't allowed" was probaley because it was a forbidden...
