This song is clearly about Jesus's run in with the despicable devil in the desert. Jesus speaks clearly and beautifully while the Devil questions whether or not Jesus can save Him or anybody for that matter. Since Jesus doesn't save those who don't really desire to be saved (the Devil was just trying to tempt Jesus, He didn't love Christ, the Devil is proud and Hates God who is His enemy). You see in order for the Devil to succeed, which He didn't, He would have had to weakend Christ's faith in Himself to save the world, which He did. Christ finished the task and the Devil failed. Since the Devil knew he was a failure, he tried to make it as bad as possible on Jesus hence the gruesome beatings (to say the least). The whole song is from the Devil's perspective and through His lips. Not that Dave is the Devil, but He has a keen understanding of the Devil's ways to try and weaken faith, and will use little ways of rhetoric and 'statements' to lessen faith in a mighty God who's ways are unseen by the lost. Jesus was not lost and was strong, so strong that He bore the weight of all the sin in the world. It is a catchy song that riles up our emotions, but don't be drawn to it as a song of worship but rather a reflection. It is a fact that Christ saves, but we must understand why and how to fully appreciate the need He satisfies - the hole in our soul that He fills. God bless you in your walk.

Amen brother. Very well said. God bless.

Jesus is a DMB fan.
