This song really reminds me of my friend, its like his life story.... BTW... im always sick of people saying everyone's songs are always drug related, but this time i think thats what this song truly is about.
and still you feel like the loneliness
is better replaced by this
I don't believe it this way
and I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize
Growing stronger each day
to me thats saying that someone feels like they feel isolated so they are using drugs as an escape to feel normal, a scapegoat. And as for the 'fear' in their eyes, i think its the 'fear'of addiction, or maybe even the addiction itself (if that makes sense).
I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
don't leave, don't give up on me
two weeks and you ran away
I remember don't lie to me
you couldn't see that it was not that way
swear I never gave up on you
turning to stone, i think of that as just becoming more and more dependent on their drug and less independent and self sufficient.
The next few lines tell me that the 'addict' doesn't want to be left alone. He knows he's addicted he knows he's fucked....but he doesn't want you to give up on him, because he knows he's to weak to pull himself out.
im not sure about the two weeks part.... maybe he just keeps giving up and running away from the people trying to help him. Than he realizes what he's done, and feels ashamed of letting down all those who care. He feels like they just are realizing that he's a hopeless wreck. But he doesn't realize 'that it's not that way',and that no one's giving up on him.
I wanted nothing but for that trust again
and brick by brick you would take it
You feared of phantoms and none exist but you
you still saw fit to destroy it
it seems like obviously its getting hard to trust him, he's probably lying about using the drug to everybody, claiming to be stopping. 'You feared of phantoms and none exist but you' thats one that really got me. To me its saying there's nothing to fear but yourself, your the only person angry, your the only person holding you back. He's doing it to himself and he's damaging his own mind (you still saw fit to destroy it).
and I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize
growing stronger each day
and once again, its just getting worse day by day.......
well thats my take on this song. by the way im a HUGE atr fan. they are so amazing!!!!
sorry it was so long but thats my opinion (and in a way the story of my friend)
