I adore this song. It is one of the greatest love songs ever written. I know this song was written about his wife, but I can't help but think of all types of love (lovers, friends, children, parents etc) when I hear this song. I noticed someone commented that he sang this song to his child and I can understand why. The lyrics, though noticeably about a lover, continue to remind me of my grandma and a grandparent's love for their grandchild.
"Come let me love you, let me give my life to you.
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms."
This part, especially the part about "drowning in your laughter," makes me think of a grandparent speaking to their grandchild.
