Cover art for Rock & Roll lyrics by Eric Hutchinson

I think gbear was the closest. It's pretty clear Hutchinson is portraying them as shallow, describing the guy as a conformist and snake ('Disregard the lies that he will tell and what he's probably like' and 'his charm will get him through the night'), and the girl equally conforming ('every girl out wants to be her but they look the same already'). They're both out for sex. One thing people miss is he's pointing out the superficiality of it all; "cheap romance", the humor of 'love' existing amidst the drunken stupor ('doesn't count b/c the room is spinning'), and the idea of two complete strangers, both pretending to be people they're not, living up what amounts to be empty 'rock and roll' weekend facades. I definitely find there is a level of depth to this catchy tune.
