I think this song is about a girl who's had the guys forever and always got which ever one she wanted, than she meets a guy that actually doesn't like her like that and she doesn't know what to think of it so she starts second guessing herself and is trying to play hard to get and such to get him to like her and him not liking her has made her realize she's not fooling anyone but herself

Can't believe no one realized this song is obviously about a Call girl/prostitute. The "Voices in your head" are memories of all the men she slept with. The true meaning of the song is revealed in the 2nd verse

"Gloria - How's it gonna go down Will you meet him (THE CLIENT) on the main line Or will you catch him on the rebound Will you marry for the money (meaning give him his fantasy for the money) Take your lover in the afternoon. (another client) Feel your innocence slippin' away Don't believe it's coming back soon (self explanatory) And...

If Gloria is supposed to be a prostitute, they were WAY too subtle. We're talking about the 80s, not the 50s. I never got that feeling from the song.

I second the call girl. It is obvious. No matter what her innocence is gone because she has sold herself out. The line "if everybody wants you, why isn't "anybody" calling. It is not the fact that she is devoid of calls, she is missing meaningful connection. Her "alias" is not true to herself.
