Does anyone else agree that the lyrics to this song are just fantastically clever? Its obvious what it all means, and it is very simple with no apparent hidden meanings or anything, but it just rhymes so perfectly. Fountains of Wayne do seem to have a knack for writing very good pop songs which tell stories really well, through the use of the clever rhymes they use in their lyrics.
Agreed. Most Fountains of Wayne songs have such a wonderfully perfect rhyming scheme I've noticed, which to me speaks of their ability as songwriters as well as musicians. An ace song from an ace band. Can't wait for their next album!

Oh, yeah. Some folks might look at this as just a fun little pop song -- which it definitely is that -- but I see a lot more. A great lyrical structure with a perfect little story that is really cleverly and humorously done, an awesome arrangement punctuated by horns, a super-catchy melody with cool chord changes, and just an overall feeling of pure joy. Pretty much everything a great pop song should have, in spades.
