well i think everybody has great and reasonable meanings...but really the meaning that one takes from any song especially this one is reflected upon what they've been through and what they've seen and most of what what they want it to mean
and yes i do agree the "it" does mean doubt
but this song is generally about how when ppl open up to somebody else about anything religion/relationships/friendship/ect. they become vulnerable because when someone is telling somebody else about their feelings or thoughts they are vulnerable to pursuasion [idk how to spell it] into sex/drugs/violence or anything else someone else can pursuade them into. thats why it is always better to just keep everything inside to not be vulnerable and be pursuaded into the evils of society.

because i have opened up and i was vulnerable and i let my self be pursuaded and i will never let that happen again
