Lithium Flower is about The Major's bi-polar disorder, brilliance & depression. When one takes meds, one tastes them when they hit the tongue and nasal passages.

Number 9 includes section 9, but can also include John Lennon's Number 9. Also, The Major is a 9 out of 10, as there is no such person that is a perfect 10. The Major is as good as she gets.

"Just incredible math," refers to her mind and body.

& The Major is so sexy, like a flower.

Song Meaning

Since WHEN was Major Kusanagi bipolar? Lithium is a metal used in high-quality electronics for heat-sinks and power cells (batteries) due to a high temperature capacity and electrochemical potential, thus "lithium flower" refers to her high-end cyberized state and her beauty and grace.

As for Number Nine, it probably refers - as you said, Thomas - to Section Nine and 'nine out of ten', but I can't vouch for the John Lennon reference...

And 'incredible math' is probably a general "she's incredible" statement, since all of her is data and mechanics (Note that in the finale of S.A.C....
