I think his is just very simply about the passage of time, and no matter what, the world will keep moving and we all jsut have to carry on. The first verse he's saying the stars are beautiful, but they'll be gone in the monrning. The second verse the next day comes and goes, and he's happy he was with his loved one that day. The last verse he's telling his love to say goodnight to the ones taht have been here before, or all the people in teh world who have passed on up in teh stars, and then watch the stars come back out and start all over. After each verse he says "we'll carry on" becuase as time goes by, taht's all you can do, jsut keep going.
