She's doesn't actually think she's pretty, she's being sarcastic.

A monster could be many things. I think it could be the people looking into her life trying to judge her. I also think the monster is herself, because she's overthinking and doesn't see she's pretty.
She likes being alone better. They're no one around to hurt her and make her feel more "ugly"
