This is just merely my interpretation of the song. Which may not be the same as everyone elses - but that's music, isn't it.
Basically, for me, he's at a gig and what's he seeing in front of him produces an epiphany, that he wants a girl back that he had. They've perhaps fallen on tough times but he does realise he needs/wants her, and nothing will stop him. But he wants her to make the first move; hence Gimme A Call as the title.
I'm sure Tommy had something completely different in his head when writing it. Fantastic tune though, the boy has a knack for songwriting.
ABC is a class venue by the way, just behind Barrowlands in my view for best in Glasgow. Will be seeing Mr. Reilly at The Garage though in March. Will be class.
