Wow, I'm surprised nobody's commented on this song. It's one of my favorite on the album, probably because I knwo the feeling.
To me he's talking about odviously dealing with something, wether it be depression, or just something else that really effected him. But he wants someone to be there to listen to and comfort him, but there's nobody there. Sleep is his only chance for relief, but even that is failing him.
