im not completely sure about it but i personally think this song is about Gilles De Rais as he pretty much was loosing his soul to evil. the lines Entangled in a dream, " The mirrors full of steam, He scarce could see Joan's face reflecting through" sorta make me picture him trying to keep sane by picturing joan in his mind but over time this was slowly getting harder for him to accomplish, then finally at the end he lost his soul. like i said im prolly really far off but thats just what i think
