The Passenger Lyrics

This is probably my favorite Wallflowers song, but it's always tough to choose. To me this song speaks of man's general disinterest in the fact that the Earth is "slipping of the radar" and "heading straight into the blackness." The passenger is a metaphor for mankind as we take a ride on Earth through the universe and time. However, the fact that we are "sitting backwards" represents the fact that we have turned a blind eye to exactly where we are headed. We choose not to accept that what we do today could have dire consequences in the future, and instead just go along for the ride heeding not where we are going. Man is just "too far gone" to know where he is, and the "conditions are worse than we planned." I could quote just about every line in this song to back up this arguement, but that would get very redundant, so Ill leave yall to agree or argue.
