To me, this song is about a person, a guy, who is infatuated with this one person. He sees her as being "picture" perfect, in reference to the first line of the song. He sees her as this utterly amazing person, who he doesn't know all that closely, and he'd like to but he's either shy or afraid. He goes through the motions of day to day life, feeling okay, or as the song says, "alright", but eventually, that feeling starts to get old and he is getting depressed. He knows he doesn't have a shot in hell to be with her, so he tries to forget about her, but ultimately, he can't. This song really means alot to me because I felt this way about this girl (my girlfriend now), and I was so infatuated with her and eveything about her, but I couldn't say a word to her. I was too afraid. But there is one line that resonates with me, the fact that he says, as someone else already pointed out, "you were taking a break from life," brings such a relaxed, laid back vibe to this girl that he loves.
