I absolutely adore the lyrics in this song! The description of the men at the “corporate gallows with ties around [their] necks” is incredibly vivid (and badass) imagery. Every time I listen to this song, I see the businessmen in my mind hanging from their blood red ties at some sort of gallows while wearing dark business suits. It’s a beautiful, haunting, and disturbing image all at the same time. I also really love the line “An American tragedy. You're searching for a remedy sitting in traffic on a freeway to insanity.” This was my response when my mom told me that one day I would have to give up my ambition to become an author and go get a “real job” in a math-related field. She didn’t really appreciate it, but I feel like many adults are truly just stuck in a rut of “practicality,” having given up their own dreams for the life their parents and friends expected them to lead.
