@fire: What I think "Burn back the sun" means (and I agree, it is rather confusing if only in the wording) is that it is asking for God to BRING back the sun in a way.
"Burn it so hot that it ignites in my heart." Is the best way I can describe it.
True, the flame never extinguished, but he/she wants it to burn as brightly and warmly as it did once before. He/she wants to be engulfed in it and be restored.
