I think that has sort of two meanings?

One is the obvious - warning others of him beign a killer.

But the other one that sprang to my mind was mainstreaming of music. "I’m fearless now, but it cost my soul" lots of very manufactured singers seem completely unbeatable but also a bit... personality-less

"Why’d you think I do the things I do? For shadows haunted me like ghosts So I became what I feared the most" being pressured into it?

I dunno. the mroe I think, the less it makes sense... (:
