I actually don't think he's being possessive... To me it's just an incredibly beautiful song, about that woman travelling the world and seeing all kinds of beautiful places, and he's just being very honest in telling her that he's going to miss her. Seems like he's scared she might not be coming back, so that's why he's saying that she belongs to him...
