Whoa now, I didn't expect to see so many opinions here that were all different from mine. Well that's great!

So - let me preface this with the fact that I AM a Christian but I like this song anyway; it's actually my favorite.

Parts of it were about morality and the afterlife, yes, but I like to look at it entirely in terms of Fate, or in this case, "God's Plan." If God DOES have a plan for everyone ("a man up in a room/ who can control everything I do") then it means that some of us must simply be DESTINED to be "losers" all our lives. And hey, it may come as no surprise to you that that, in fact, sucks!

So, if you consider yourself a loser and feel stuck in a life that you wouldn't have chosen for yourself, then don't choose it! Shake off the influence and go make your own destiny. I mean, what Christian wouldn't agree with that? I guess the only difference here with me is that I try to do it WITH God rather than trying to bring him down, and that leaves me kind of conflicted sometimes, if you couldn't tell.

[... the other equally plausible interpretation of the song being that Christians remain losers until they wake up and accept the absence of God. But that kind of name-calling is pretty immature, so I'm going to compliment the band by sticking to my musings upon fate and destiny. ;)]
