I think it's about a fight between a family, and Isaac not wanting to get involved.

"A wild pack of family dogs came running through the yard one day My father got his gun, shot it up, they ran away okay"

A problem in the family comes up somehow. Dad just explodes on everybody (kind of like the SNL skits with Will Ferrell, Ana Gasteyer, and the girl), making the entire family go silent.

"A wild pack of family dogs came running through the yard And as my own dog ran away with them I didn't say much of anything at all Didn't say much of anything at all Didn't say much of anything at all"

The narrator has some problems with everything too, but he doesn't want to get in the middle of it.

"A wild pack of family dogs came running through the yard As my little sister played The dogs took her away And I guess she was eaten up, OK Yeah, she was eaten up, OK My mother's crying blood dust now My mother's crying blood dust now My mother's crying blood dust now"

Little sister gets so angry that she leaves/ignores/disowns the family, or becomes so angry at everyone that she doesn't even recognize them anymore. Mother (stereotypically the most compassionate) becomes heartbroken.

"My dad, he quit his job today Well, I guess he was fired but that's OK And I'm sitting outside by my mudlake Waiting for the pack to take me away"

Maybe dad's problems start interfering with his job. Now that he's lost his job, the narrator is finally getting pissed enough to tell dad what he really thinks.

"And right after I die The dogs start floating up towards the glowing sky Now they'll receive their rewards Now they will receive their rewards Yeah, they will receive their rewards"

The narrator was, for some reason or another, the problem all along. After he dies, the problems/him, go to heaven.
