I agree that Insomnium do indeed have melodic death metal down to a fine art, every song they have crafted is purely amazing.

This song is a metaphor for the union and separation of a relationship. The two people are referred to as "wind" and "fire", two opposing forces joined for a brief moment in harmony. But, unfortunately, "wind grew to a storm/and fire to a burning pile", and the couple separated unhappily.
